These two companies particularly concentrate on reducing Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste.
They are both leaders in the recycling and renewable energy fields, and process a huge variety of different materials that normally would go straight into a landfill
The Ripper 2140 plant is primarily grinding and shredding material to 90mm, were it is then processed further utilizing a “Star” screen. This screens the 20mm minus product out that is then trucked to the Adelaide Brighton Cement Works. Any oversized material is reprocessed through the grinding circuit.
Consumption of power at the cement kiln, which is powered by gas, is in excess of $20 million dollars per year.
By burning the C&D waste (which includes plastics, rubber, building materials as well as wood), at very high temperatures is able to reduce the amount of gas required to run the plant, and meet EPA emissions standards.
Over a seven hour working period 2.5 tonnes of tramp metal was removed from the magnet on the Ripper.
